January 2012 Meeting of FMEP Steering Committee

EPA Grant for Porous Parking Lot and Rain garden

At the January 12, 2012 meeting of the Friends Miiller Ecological Park, Scott Brunka, Assistant City Manager, announced that the City of Lebanon's EPA Grant application had been approved and papers had all been signed. The grant is for Miller Ecological Park's access drive, parking area (porous asphalt), rain garden, and seedling plantings along Will's Run.

The City is currently developing final construction plans to solicit bids to construct the parking lot and rain garden.  The total project will cost $100,000 with the grant providing $60,000, Miller Ecological Fund trust (Warren County Foundation) providing $20,000, the City Park Impact fund providing $15,000, and the City of Lebanon providing $5,000 in kind services.

Friends of Miller Ecological Park and the City of Lebanon have worked together for nearly three years to obtain a grant for this project. There was a full room of supporters of will and Harriet Miller Ecological Park on Thursday, January 12, to hear the good news and celebrate together.
