SEVENTH GRADERS PLAN  GAGA PIT AT MEP

Seventh graders from Lebanon Junior High have constructed a gaga pit for Miller Ecological Park. The idea for the project developed when science teacher, Carrie Vaughan, was attending a workshop on Project-based learning at the end of April.

A GaGa Pit was one of the suggestions for such a project, and she and Jami King, fellow math teacher, knew the idea would be educational as well as fun for their students. So they quickly put the unit together and succeeded in completeing the project by May 19.

On May 24, five representatives of the class attended the Friends of Miller Ecological Park meeting and presented a slide show explaining the process that was used to build the gaga pit.

FMEP Members were impressed by the enthusiasm and professional presentation given by Roselen Rotello, Shawn Dapice, Rebecca Dendinger, Morgan Showen, and Abby Hammond. Congratulations to all of the students who worked on the project and especially to teachers Carrie Vaughan and Jami King, for their creativity and dedication!
